Preferences for image sizes

Hi folks. I am going to post a thread later today with a few things I have learned about shooting coin photos with a digital camera. My original pics are huge (1+ MB each and full screen). I'm going to shrink them down, but want to know your preference for size.

Would you prefer this smaller version? (44KB)

Or the larger version for more detail? (150KB)

Thanks for your thoughts!
Tom

Beautiful! I think small pics are great with links to larger pics is the best approach.

Great shots. I'd go for the smaller one with the post & a link for the bigger one. I'm looking forward to any info you post, I have no clue & want to get started on imaging, but I want to start right & not go through buying all the wrong stuff the first time.

MS71 - Hang tight. I read threads about coin photography here for about 6 months and soaked it all up before taking the plunge. So I employed a lot of the best advice and ended up taking great pictures in about 15 minuties (the one above was one of my first). I also spent a few hours screwing around with lighting and learned a few things to share. I'll carve out some time for a post this afternoon.

    Excellent forum name BTW!

I, too, have been soaking up all and any imaging info on this board, and am now ready for the 'plunge' also. Very interested in your input on this subject. Zerbe

100 X 100 pixels thumbnails with a link to a 400 X 400 pixel image. Thumbnails would be less than 7k while the larger image would be around 50k.

  • Nice shot, Blade! I have one of those (1945S NGC MS68?) but wasn't able to get as good of a pic of it. I prefer the smaller size for posting directly to the board, so that it doesn't mess with the formatting.

Thanks all! I will post a smaller pic for initial review, and provide a link to the big daddy. Posts will be out later today, covering 3 topics:
    - Equipment used & close-ups
    - Lighting conditions - impact on luster and toning
    - White balance - getting accurate color (still a work in progress for me)
