ANY PCGS MS-68 Silver dime is a find but I agree that this is one great coin. I used to have a MS68 51-S in my set that was that nice but now it is gone
I also had a 46-P which was a 67 but is now a 68 but also gone
Out of the 30 or so pcgs silver ms68 Roosies sold in the past four to five years, only one or two have seen a public sale, and have had a publicized price. Butch &/or Mitch (and Danny, if he is around) could tell us more (if they like). In the last two years, or so, I have heard of only one newly made 8, but didn't hear about a selling price.
Great to see Registrycoin and Butch in the same thread Happy holidays guys.
MS Silver Roosies have always been "near and dear to me". I always believed the set in ultra high grade was meant for a collector with vision, along the same lines as certain MS clad sets today.
When I began collecting high grade MS Roosies, I believe it was not long after fellows like Rick Tomaska started seeing the potential for Cameo coinage from 1950 to date. While I liked that area as well, I was much more attracted to the Mint State "modern" coins (1932-date). Understand, 3-4 years ago, these silver Roosies received virtually no respect from nearly anyone. Even 2+ years ago, coins were available for "nice" prices. I think Oreville summed it up best on the thread regarding coins compared to stocks a while back where he correctly pointed out that many coins can lie dormant for years, even decades, before (possibly) rising sharply in value over a short period of time. These auctions clearly show the current popularity of mid-20th Century "pop top" MS coins. Wondercoin

I'll say it goes for at least $6,500. I think there is a chance that this one could exceed $10,000. Let Singapore say what he wants, the fact is that very low pop cs moderns are rare and they are on fire. I'm not giving my opinion on future value, just comenting on what I think will happen. And, this is one beautiful coin.
I think it will take the right buyer to see this on EBay for it to change hands. I'll be the reserve is about $5K, and the coin will probably go for $6,000 if the right buyer takes a chance on a seller with zero feedback.
The cynical side of me says it won't sell this go round on EBay, due to Seller's lack of feedback. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. This one should have been consigned to live auction.
The fact that this Ebayer has (0) feedback and has no ligit e-mail address, I would find it hard pressed to want to send $5000 to someone like this. I have a feeling that this coin was not really for sale at this time, but the buyer is fishing for a possible sale price for a future sale. It sometimes is hard to put a price on such a beautiful coin.
With these prices I wish I had kept the 64-D dime I made in PCGS MS68. I think still the only one graded MS 68. Sold it for about $400 and thought I was doing good.
Be careful of a seller with the MO that is described above.
I also sent eBay an email stating that the seller's email address bounces. Was told this is a very serious offense and they would get back to me in 12 to 24 hours. Let's see what happens.
P.S. After I posted this message I saw the seller added this to his auction:
RETRACTION: An invalid e-mail address was earlier posted in this auction. This was an error. We did not realize that that account had expired. The new e-mail address has been updated and posted. We apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused.
well ebay was "down" for about 20 minutes (8 minutes before it closed and 12 minutes after). I am thinking people were planning on bidding but got locked out.
If you went to their site and clicked on any auction it gave you an "internel errror" and took you to an error page. So it was NOT my computer at fault, it was ebay being broken.

Well I fold then, without even bidding ...
I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!
I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!
If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??
My 51-S which was Pop 3 at the time sold for +/- $3000 and the 46-P which when it upgraded was Pop 1 was siginificantly more.
Both of these sold last year before the prices for other Pop 1 - 3 dimes started going up (Not as much as the quarters but just wait)
Butch
ps (There is a nice 51-S in the B&M Auction that is already over $1650)

I'll make an exception for this coin because I think its beautiful.
If it was just another shiny silver one in an 8 holder it wouldn't do much for me.

Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
Started at $100, saw a high bid of $3550, and, who knows, the final hammer may just be $100...

Isn't the coin rather ugly? Not that I don't like dark brown toning as much as the next color blind guy....

Oh well...
