Been browsing for some 1969 coins and came across some 69-S Lincolns with repunched mintmarks.......a couple of them had closeups scans, but I couldn't see anything..........whats a good way to tell if a minmark is repunched?

As for a response to the question, in multipart...
1. No scan is going to show the details of a coin well enough to show a repunched mint mark or 95% of the doubled dies. Anyone with a scanner is wasting their time trying to do such a thing. Digital photos through a microscope are the only way a decent shot of any RPM is going to come through.
2. How to tell if a coin has a repunched mint mark...well, without trying to sound like a smarta$$, the mint mark is doubled in some form other than machine doubling, which would most typically also be on the date. The cent would also pre-date 1990 since all mint marks were machined into the master die starting that year, thus alleviating repunched mint marks altogether...BTW, this same practice had first been employed to the master die of proof cents in San Francisco in 1985, thus 1985 to present proofs cannot possibly have a repunched mint mark.
There are a number of different 1969S repunched mint marks - at last count, five different dies. Unfortunately I only have photos of one of them, but this is the general idea for all of them from that year and mint...the others are a little stronger, alittle weaker, same general spread and idea. I hope this helps.

S cent in these sets, but they could well exist.

<< <i>Actually there's a very strong 1970S RPM that is well known for mainly coming out of mint sets. >>
The 70-S small date cent accounts for about 10% of mint set production and rarely
appears in very high grade. %. The 70 S/S is relatively common in high grade and
accounts for about 12% of mint set production. There are many varieties in the '70 set.
