<< <i>Bring back KinKoin and his p--ing quarter...at least he was mildly amusing. >>
Speaking of KinKoin, did you see his off centered SBA he is advertising??? He claims it is on a proof planchet. He bought it from Fred Weinberg on eBay for $46.00 or something like that because it was gold plated. Some how, KinKoin got the gold off of it and is selling it as an off centered proof coin with no copper core.
SEVERAL IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THESE COINS.............. First of all they are NOT Proof planchets Second of all they are NOT silver planchets They have a clad layer but the deplating process did something so that the edges look all silver. They are normal business strike planchets that are struck slightly off center. They are now damaged or altered coins since they have been plated & unplated. This is not my opinion but fact according to the original owner, Fred Weinberg, who is the largest error dealer in the US, on the board of the PNG, and writes the attributations for PCGS slab inserts. I asked him about these coins & have a high level of respect of his knowledge.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Tad. I was thinking the same thing, too. Look at how shiny it is. Oh well. It is still a nice error coin. I would have paid $43.00 for it if I had saw it the first time around, but I would never pay more than that for it.
supercoin There's a trick metal detectors guys use to clean dug coins. You hook the coin up to an electric train transformer and but it in saltwater and it bubbles the dirt and corrosion off. Hook the wires up the other way and it puts the junk back on it. Basically the same thing as when you send your Harley parts off to be chrome plated. I don't know what method KK used. It is possible that if he used the train transformer deal some nickel from the clad layer was removed and deposited on the copper layer in the process.

Singapore, you classify as a new arrival, but I was not venting about you.
I found a couple of his feedbacks pretty darn amusing!
The coin he won for $43.10
The coin he tried to sell but the $141.50 max bid did not reach the reserve
