A boring hobby if we all collected the same things!

Wouldn't this be a dull hobby if we all collected and appreciated the exact same coins? It would be regimented to the point anyone could just state their relative rank, and homogeny would be the order of the day. Only a few collectors would have collections that held any interest to the rest of us, and all other coins would languish. Darkside? Modern? Classic? Ancient? Commems? Proofs? Circulation strikes? Type sets? Series? Themes? Gold? Platinum? Copper? Silver? Clad? Wouldn't it be a dull landscape if we could choose only one. Viva la difference!

And imagine the scarcity if we were all after the same coins!

It would be fine with me if I was the only Franklin collector!

I get a kick out of this kind vs those kind threads. image I collect a little bit of everything so I rarely bash any of it. I'm here to tell you 1897 Proof Barbers are dull boring and worthless so I recommend you guys staying away from them. image
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Definitely true. We'd have a new form of beanie babies or something. Diversity is good. Which is why I have coins from ancients to moderns, from aluminum to gold, from US to world.

    Dog,

I think that we are a rare breed. What breed are you exactly? No one collects proof Barbers anyway. That means more for us!

    Yes it would.
