Clad coinage toning - how can you tell if it is AT or NOT

Is there a way to tell if a Clad coin has been AT'd or NOT? I am not talking about light golden tone or a little bit of rainbow ring or in a corner...I am talking about really colorful toning of purples and blues.
Any info? Thanks.

    Luster still shows thru the toning is a good indicator but no way to always tell 100% for sure.
