Jack Beymer?

Dave99BDave99B Posts: 8,531 ✭✭✭✭✭
Has anyone purchased from Jack Beymer recently? He seems to advertise a lot of raw stuff (in Coinworld), including some difficult dates. He prices are not cheap. I’m just wondering if his raw material is decent. Anyone?

Thanks,
Dave

I've dealt with Jack Beymer at a couple of shows, and hav spoken with him and his wife at length about cents. Both are nice people. He seems to be a very straight forward person and sells generally problem free coins...they are rather expensive, though. is showcase at the ANA convention in Chicago (1999) was the only time in my life I have ever held a 1969S DDO cent. It was slabbed (don't remember by whom) as an EF45, and looked to somewhat match the grade.

I know Jack Beymer very well. Off and on for some 20 years now. He's not cheap but I know his Manager that runs things also. He has been with him for as long as I can remember. I will mention that he does not sell cheap, but when you go to sell something back he will bluesheet you.

Edit to add: I used to buy raw coins from him years ago and imo the grading was right on the mark.

I just bought the AU58 FE Cent in this thread from him. No problem transaction. This was slabbed not raw. Link

He's been in business forever. But, I've often wondered who buys from him at those prices?!

I agree that his prices are very high, but the grading is very tough, I'll give him that, he is tough on
copper, but I would rather cherrypick a PQ coin myself than pay 50% over graysheet for it.

Right on, Winged Lib! If you understand the market price for the coin you seek and have patience, you will find it for less than a Beymer or Bowers charges without sacrificing quality.

I've only bought a few coins from him through the years. He has a lot of inventory and if a person needs something he probably has it.
Like I said in my earlier post he has always been high on price. But these days with more dealers online, I don't see him out of line with the rest of them. The sad part is if you sell them something, my experience is they will give you a bluesheet bid offer. And that's if they like the coin!!!!!

jack sells lots of raw stuff and he is usually right on the money as far as grade if you order what he calls a nice vf/xf/au coin from him lets say for example a 19 century type coin, it will be all there gradewise!

as far as his prices go
well usually you are not going to get coins for wholesale from him nor will you get rips either

I've purchased many coins from Jack Beymer over the years. While I wouldn't look to him for common date coins, he often has the more difficult issues and describes his coins accurately.

One of the more interesting coins I have purchased from him was an 1858 Indian Head Penny. It was a pattern coin. The interesting thing was that it was in G-6 condition. You just don't see those types of coins often and Jack gets way more than his fair share.

By the way, I've returned only one coin from him in over 20 years. Promptly refunded, including shipping.

definitely 1 of the top-5 dealers in my book. have bought & sold w/ beymer for at least 20 years. his grading is BETTER than slabs, imo, & the guy has a he11uva eye for altered coins.

    would recommend w/out hesitation.
