Coin of the Year Awards???????

I saw on my local news last night that the Rhode Island quarter was nominated for Coin of the Year for 2002. Wasn't this minted in 2001? Also anyone got any more info on this Coin fo the year thingy?

    World Coin News (krause publication) sponsors the Coin of the Year "COTY" awards. The coins are selected for 10 catagories from all over the world. Although we are closing out the Year 2002, apparently the folks on the darkside operate behind the times as they have only now completed first round voting for the 2001 awards. Two US coins have been selected. They are the Rhode Island Qtr for "Best Trade Coin" and the Buffalo Dollar Commemorative for "Most Popular Coin".
