New buy - 1921 Peace Dollar

I`ve got a new scanner for Christmas and still trying to get to know my way around it. With this pic, the only " enhancement " was to turn up the sharpness on it. Other wise it is what it is. It`s a plain jane and just got it on Christmas Eve. So now I can finnally show the few coins I do have. 1921 Peace Dollar

Cool. We,re always needing a new batch of coins to look at.
Excellent scan of an equally excellent coin.MS Peace Dollar.
Is it around 63-64.?Some people might think I,m nuts for the flatness on the hair on the ear.
I just know the `21 is usually like this from strike of roll-friction.Its gotta be MS something right?
  • Very nice peace! I love the 21s, I have a couple of circulated ones (one VF and one XF) and a slabbed 63 that looks a lot like yours. All very nice coins simply because of the design!
  • That coin is a knockout.I too, love the Peace series and your '21 is particularly beautiful. Twowood

Very nice coin. I was thinking MS63 would be a good grade before I read your grade of 63-64. mike image
  • Nice coin, the 1921 is one of ten more dates to go before I complete my Dansco.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing for your relatives.
  • Good One CCR - nice picture too - I'm with the crowd MS63?

  • I'm going to go MS64 on that one.

So when do we find out the actual grade?

Pretty coin, and very nice pic. Glad the scanner is working out. Decent strike as 21's go. You didn't invite a grade, but I'll add my name to the 64 crowd.

I'm lousy @ grading 1921 Peace $. They are the toughest of the series in my opinion. Nice coin though. As for grade I'm guessing a 63, it would go 64 but for the hit in the field to the left of Liberty's face.

    Nice scan as well.

I'm thinking more 62/63 because of the ticks on it.
You picked up on the scan deal real fast. It took me 2 years how to figure out how to get scans of coins that didn't look like they were struck on a Hersey Planchet.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Thanks for the really nice comments! I was hoping you guys ( and gals ) would take a hack at guessing the grade. I bought this from David Lawerence sight unseen. I dealt with them a few times and have always been pleased with what I got from them. I needed a 1921 to put into my slabbed collection of Peace Dollars and I`m almost 1/3RD of the way there of completing it. In their description, They said it looked like a MS64 to them. In actuality, its a PCGS MS62. So I`m happy to have bought it and happy that you guys and gals like it too!
