Who here searches packs??? (BE HONEST)

I never have and never will, i saw a guy at Wal Mart doing it and chewed the 15 yr old out saying it was theft and card store/Wal mart could take him to court over it (if they wanted to)...I am glad they stick those pieces of cardboard in packs now...Thats why i only buy sealed boxes or go to my hobby shop to buy single packs

  • Hobby shops are the worst places for people searching packs. My hobby shop lets their "big spenders" or "best customers" search the packs. They'll open a new box and let the guy search the packs, buy the 2 or 3 packs with the game used, then fill the box back up with more packs provided he buys a $100+ box on a regular basis too.
  • Ain't that the truth! I remenber those days all so well!
Scanning a box was easy. I know some boxes keep there inserts in the same order and you could count the packs and grab every insert there was in a box. Some card companys sealed the insert packs with a difforent type of seal and you could see it on the back of the pack.

The shop I deal with does not let anyone pull from the boxes, he grabs the packs for you, he just reaches up and grabs. What I like about him and his store is that he is not into collecting cards, nor does he sell many singles.

BTW- Beware of boxes on Ebay, some sellers are trying to sell unsealed boxes for high cost! DO NOT BUY THEM UNLESS THEY ARE FACTORY SEALED, NOT JUST SEALED BUT FACTORY SEALED. make sure it says that in the title some where and you can see the factory seal!

  • I know seeral pack searchers. But they don`t raid the entire box. They can tell the different GU by feel, and only take the ones they want. NBT
The only thing you can`t get rid of by losing it, is your temper!!! Heres an idea, if everyone would mind their own business we would all get along better!!!!
  • If you felt a pack and knew it was a GU, you would take it for $3-$6. How do you know what GU it is? Does a Babe Ruth jersey card feel any different in the pack than a Jay Buhner jersey card does? If you know it's a GU you'll take it, it's bs if you say you don't.
  • BTW NBT if you feel a pack and know that it's a GU, but you don't want it, send me the pack and I'll pay the pack price plus a buck or two.
  • I think this seller has been spoken of before but for those who missed it:

    Gauranteed Game Used Pack
    XTRA INNINGS SPORTS CARDS
    Now Closed For Good

Looking for tough Game Used and Autos in Football and Baseball, expecially Phillies, Orioles, Redskins, Steelers, Eagles and Raiders.
  • What happens when that guy sells a "guaranteed game used pack" and he had made a mistake and it's really a decoy card?
  • I didn`t say it was me. I have a friend who runs a shop and has access to all the new stuff that comes in. NBT

  • I've seen the owner of the shop here open a new box, search the packs, open a couple and get the game used out, scan it and put it on ebay, and then put the rest of the box out on the shelf. I stopped buying from him after I bought 20 packs of 2001 SPx baseball for $8 each without pulling any card beside regular cards.
  • I was talking to a guy i made a trade with who did search packs... and he said there is still an easy way to search even with the cardboard decoys. I forget all he said.. but it was like feeling the side of the pack or something. So.. the decoys arent a for sure answer to the problem.
