What do you consider Classical, Modern coinage to be?

To me, Classical is pre Morgan Dollar Coinage. Some of the Seated coins kind of overlap, but mostly I would call them Classical. Morgans, Barbers, Liberty Nickels I group in with the Early 20th Century coins. Then there are the Clad era coins. Franklins kinda fall in the end of the 2nd category , as do Silver Roseys and Washingtons. Jeffersons span the last 2 categories. I guess I have 3 basic categories for classifying coinage. mdwoods

Personally, I consider anything minted on a steam press to be "modern", while, of course, "classical" coinage would be Roman Imperial and Republican and ancient Greek coinage.
I guess that I would include Byzantine coinage in "classical", as well.

I'd go with 1964, marked by the death of the silver coin.

Pre-modern: Any series you couldn't find in circulation or get from a bank when you were a kid.
Classical: The nice coins in the glass case at the coin shop that you couldn't afford when you were a kid.
Ancient: Hammered coins.
Thus, it will likely vary for all of us. If you could get Morgans from the bank and find Walkers occasionally when you were a kid...then they feel like Modern coins. But, if you're a kid today....the Morgans and Walkers will definitely feel non-Modern. Same with wheats, mercs, buffs, frankys.
