Just Love Coingame2000

labloverlablover Posts: 3,694 ✭✭✭✭✭
By now some of you have discovered what others have known for some time...Coingame2000 is the "real deal". Prior threads have questioned Mike's coin scans. They are what he say's they are. I've bought over fifteen coins from him and have yet to be disappointed.
Trust what you see. Mike's professional and great to do business with. He's "the man".

I too had the highest respect for Coingame2000 until the time he started peddling those "worthless" PCGS-MS66 and MS67 silver Roosies on ebay. That was it for me.

Mark Feld says " curious first post." I thought so too. What coins exactly did Lablover acquire from Coingame2000? Lablover's E-bay rating is 2, he's never purchased a coin from Coingame on e-bay, and the most exotic purchase he has made on e-bay is an 1956 proof set. Curious indeed.
  • I looked up on EBAY, and coingame2000 only has one feedback (positive) and that was from way back in July. Am I missing something here? Does he have a store, street corner, permanent table at FUN?

  • gemtone65,

You'd better look at lablover's (jrg1152) eBay feedback again because he's got NINE positives from me alone and has purchased numerous other coins from my firm that were NOT on eBay!!! Moreover, this same individual has purchased several coins from PINNACLE as well (a fact I just shared with Mark Feld via PM).

I don't know what your problem is so I'll just put it in God's hands and pray for you.

Your information is inaccurate!!! My ebay seller name is coingame2000@aol.com and I have 108 Positives from 62 Unique Users (the latest being posted today) with 0 Neutrals and 0 Negatives. I wholeheartedly encourage you to check again and then make us all aware of your findings.

Is it too difficult to ask to actually do some research before you start taking pot-shots at collectors/dealers? The huge amount of cynics on this board is truly amazing. image

I couldn't help laughing out loud at Jom's comment about the "huge amount of cynics on this board." The reason was that as this thread was evolving, I was thinking to myself: "I can't believe how gullible the people on this board are."

Mike, are you in any way affilated with Joel Rettew? I've seen some of your auctions, and you list Laguna Niguel as a location which is the same as Rettew. I ask because I will not deal with him.
  • wingedlibertywingedliberty Posts: 4,805 ✭✭✭
Doesn't Rettew deal in ACG coins?

    Brian.
  • gmarguligmarguli Posts: 2,225 ✭✭
Yes, Rettew is a major ACG dealer.
  • K6AZ,

My firm (Numismatic Enterprises) is not associated with Joel Rettew in any way. I am located in Laguna Niguel while Joel has a coin shop in Laguna Hills (formerly Leisure World), which is several miles north of me.

Thanks Mike, that is good to know. I've seen some of your auctions, and some of those Morgans look awesome.

Jom asked above for Mr. Cynic (yours truly) to give some examples of the gullibility of board members that I mentioned earlier. So, off the top of my head, here goes. Let me put this in a form that reflects what I night have learned from some members this year had I been a little more naive.

    1. It's okay to deal with and tout the praises to others of coin dealers who have previously been charged with and admitted to bilking customers. All the dealer needs to say it was someone else's fault and that the government was out to make an example of him.

    2. If an e-bay seller has few negatives, its probably safe to bid on his auctions.

    3. It's occasionally worth the risk to bid on expensive coins on e-bay without a return priviledge.

    4. Now is a good time to start buying recently minted coins, especially if they have very high grades.

    5. The vast majority of mint red graded copper coins are original.

    6. The most knowledgeable board members can distinguish AT from NT on the best work of the coin doctors.

    7. PCGS will generally cross a coin if it meets the standards of PCGS for that grade.

    8. If you submit a coin that is nice enough, the services will grade it appropriately, even if doing so would make it a pop 1 coin.

    9. The use of multiple identities is condoned -- deception is a distinct and separate issue.

    10. Winning a debate is less important than not hurting the loser's feelings.

    11. Pictures displayed here by dealers are for scholarly and non-business related purposes only.

    12. Neon-toned coins depicted on the internet are readily available, look like their scans in real life, and were to a large degree created naturally in a numismatic sense.

    13. If your coins get stuck in a plastic tube, put them ina a freezer. Upon removal, bang the tube with a hammer, and the coins will fall out easily and undamaged.

I just can't wait to see what I learn next year! Have a happy one.
  • Gem,

    You are so right!

gemtone65 add this to your list of examples of the gullibility:
#14 Agentjim said coingame2000 shilled his own coins.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Dog97- You have to add that agentjim007 then turned around and bought a coin from Coingame2000@aol.com! At least according to one of the prior threads.

So, Gemtone65, any seller that receives a negative for any reason will receive no bids from you right? Glad to know you are absolutely PERFECT in your business. Pfffff!

For the record, Mike / coingame is correct about Ebay feedback for both jrg1152 and himself. He is also correct about jrg1152's having bought coins of his through Ebay. I would also bet that he is correct about jrg1152's having bought coins from us. I have no reason to doubt him (I just haven't bothered to check our records), and frankly, that doesn't matter to me, for purposes of this discussion.

It appears that Bulldog and gemtone looked up feedback for "coingame2000" but left off the "@aol.com" part, as I did, when I first checked. Leaving off the "@aol.com" yields different / incorrect results. Links below:

    jrg1152 Feedback

    coingame feedback

While I mentioned in my initial post to this thread that I thought lablover's post was "curious", I did not mean to imply that I thought coingame had anything to do with that post. I don't think that coingame needs that type of help here, though it was no doubt nice, to receive such praise. If he'd wanted a troll to post on his behalf (as some have intimated), I'm confident that he could have accomplished the same thing in a manner which would not have raised any eyebrows or anyone's blood pressure.

When I said "curious", I meant exactly that, as most new posters start off by introducing themselves and / or asking a question, etc. I knew that lablover's post would have some thinking hmm........and was waiting for the inevitable replies.

My apologies for any role I might have played in taking away from or causing a distraction to lablover's first post to the board .
  • Coinguy,

Thanks for clearing that up. His name was coingame2000, and that is what I punched in, and reported the results. Nowhere in the thread, did he mention the @aol part, till after I posted. Since I have little interest in what is going on in here. I decided not to respond again.

Now look what you made me do......LOL

Thanks for picking up my slack, and correcting the record!

For the record: I did not mistakenly search "Coingame2000." Rather, I searched for the transactions under Jrg1152. There were none for Coingame, as I mentioned. However, at the time I failed to realize that these transactions were listed begining the middle of November, and covered the latest 5 week or so period. Apparently, Lablover had indeed purchased coins from CG on E-bay prior to that time. (Strange that he waited so long to laud CG.) These coins, being early 1960's toned proof pieces, were unremarkable except for price.

As far as Mark's original comment, it doesn't really matter, does it, what he was thining about when he made it? Frankly, I had no idea what Mark had in mind, only that I thought it strange also for a first post. Are we supposed to believe that in light of recent controversy, this post hapened purely by coincidence? I am not claiming that CG had anything directly to do with this, rather I'd be interested in hearing from Lablover how this came about. He's been missing in action since his unsolicited plaudits for CG.

Now, on to Dcamfranklin. You misinterpreted my statement. It was not meant to suggest that a seller with some neagtives should necessarily be avoided. Quite to the contrary, I was warning folks that just because a seller has a clean or close to it feedback record is no cause for undue optimism about his sales tactics or the quality of his coins.

  • I have done a little business with Mike but I have spent a lot of time visiting at his booth at the Long Beach Show. Even though I have not bought much from him he has spent lots of time showing coins and telling me about them. The scans he has on his website and in his auctions are accurate as far as the coins that I have seen. He submitted a coin for upgrade for me twice and when it came back the second time at the original grade he returned it to me and did not charge me for his efforts I have had nothing but positive experiences with him.

The point is right on-target. We all know that there are plenty of shady and shoddy eBay sellers who should have FAR more negatives than they do. The only reason they don't is fear of retaliation. That's why the advice and counsel available here is a hell of a lot more valuable than eBay's bogus feedback system.

Good point Russ, I was stiffed on a six dollar comic and I didn't leave a Neg cause I didn't want one in return over six dollars.... Though maybe I should have, I figured I'll lose out on the 6 and not buy from that seller again...

Interesting thread to resurrect. In case anyone's wondering, lablover (Jim Green) is a class act both as a
    person and a coin collector.

I got a chuckle out of remembering the (bad) old days of retaliatory negative feedback on eBay.........
