Silver's $4.67 and a Morgan has 3/4 oz silver so that makes it worth $3.50.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    Total silver value is $31.66

    Silver Coin Melt Value Calculation
    Submitted on April 9, 2011.

    Values Entered:

    Quantity: 1
    Coin Type: 1878-1921 Morgan Dollar
Silver Price: $40.93 / troy ounce

    Answer:

    Total silver value is $31.66.

    Statistics:

» There are 0.7735 troy ounces of silver in 1 silver Morgan dollar(s).

» Each Morgan dollar contains 0.7735 troy ounces of silver and is valued at $31.66 when silver is at $40.93 / ounce.

» A roll of Morgan dollars has 20 coins and is valued at $633.15 when silver is at $40.93 / ounce.

    Bid/Ask Spread:

In the past, most "junk silver" coins on eBay often sell between a +/- 5% spread of the melt value. For example, if you have a silver coin that has a $1.00 melt value, you should be able to find someone who's willing to buy/sell it between $0.95 - $1.05. However, the recent spike in the silver price has caused premiums to fluctuate wildly.

If you're planning to buy/sell 1 Morgan dollar(s) when silver is priced at $40.93 / ounce, the final total may fall between $30.07 - $33.24 on eBay

I remember being at the Baltimore show in 2004 or so. Many dealer had boxes of junk (circ) Morgans for about $8 each. I bet there were 3-4 bags available about the bourse floor.

But just like in the stock market, it is the "low" end stocks that usually outperform the big, well established names. Junk is cheap, because no one wants it. Then, suddenly, people cant get enough. What is todays junk?
