Are there any other registry series (series - not proof sets or mint sets or 3 coin series) that have this high level of completion? Seems like the Franklins are one of the most competitive series in the registry! COOL!

Hi David - Merry Christmas!
What are the rational ones to do?
A. Keep looking at the odd 53 mint sets that we come across and hope
B. Keep drooling and cursing everytime a REAL 53S MS65FBL comes up for sale
C. Get one of these real cheap!
Actually - I just saw where Rick Tomaska (or someone from R&I) purchased one of these (MS66) from ebay for $300. I paid $160 for mine about 2 years ago so I think someone may be getting wise to the fact that there are only 180something of these in the PCGS registry and the number isn't going up!

Ah - blood drop man speak with forked tongue! - You are hereby banished to only collect SBA Dollars!

Later, Paul.
There's only one listed in the pop reports and that one resides in the #1 JFS Set. I don't know if perhaps there's a set out there with an estimated grade, but neither NGC or PCGS have another.

What if you don't care about the registry, and just want a great set. Then look around and find a great high end 66 for a couple hundred bucks. It should be a better coin then the 65FBL that costs what these days, $10,000 or so? Why is the 66 a better coin? Well assuming the grades are correct, a 66 is viewed as better because it is graded higher. Assuming you bought a real 66, it is better than a real 65FBL, when the coin is viewed as a whole. The 66 might even have a better strike in all areas except the lower bell lines. So, in conclusion, if you select the right 66, you get a better coin with a better strike, save $10,000, and only give up .07 points if you even care about the registry. Sounds like a winner to me. Time to start thinking, and stop worrying about what someone else tells you to do.
Cheers
