My coolest submissions rcvd this past week...

First coins is MS66 2002 P Ohio Quarter....with black toning.
Second coin an MS68 1999 D SBA dollar.

The quarter was found in a mint bag among other similar but to a lesser degree of toning and the SBA was also found in a bag I bought off of ebay.

I just rcvd them back on Friday. I had another coin that had some odd crescent toning that I wanted to keep (it wasn't anything more than an ms64 but I liked it) but PCGS bodybagged it with PVC !? I do not understand why tho...it was never in plastic except from home to PCGS.

  • Debating if I should break the 2 rolls of Ohio P quarters that I have to find some worthy of setting aside.

    Whats are your thoughts?

No, I would leave them as they are for a while. Open them up on a rainy day or something.
  • SemperFi,
I have 3 or 4 of the Ohio qtrs. similar to yours. I got them all from one roll...I never thought about slabbing them. Yours looks cool.image

I've examined many, many Ohio-P rolls and never found anything better than a MS-67. The coins from mint sets are a different story. I've graded a dozen of so MS-68 coins that all came from mint sets. I'd say if your looking for the high grades look in the mint sets.

Congratulations on the MS68 SBA! Awesome find and it did not cost you much since you bought the bag off eBay. imageimage

Ahh...here was the other coin that came back that had a darker than normal tone. An MS67 Lousiana - a mix of black and smoky red. These coins really do look cool!
