Topic preference - FB mercs or 1955 Double Die ?

I was thinking of posting images and throwing out for discussion, either FB (vs. non FB) Mercury dimes or diagnostics of 1955 double die Lincoln cents. I'm wondering which of those two topics might be preferred by board members? Or, would both be duds?

Please feel free to cast your votes and I will try to accommodate the majority either Thursday or Friday. Happy holidays folks!

Thats cause all the copper guys are looking at varieties which i would be doing to... exept my books havent gotten here for Christmas... well i guess Barns and Nobel doesnt sell very many Enyclopedias of U.S. Coins.

Update - the vote currently stands at 8 to 4 (or 10 to 6, if you count people who voted for both!) in favor of FB Mercs over the 1955 double die.

The voting booths will close at precisely 6:30 P.S.T. Friday morning and an official vote will be taken at that time. Shortly thereafter, the winning topic will be posted.

P.S. - In case anyone is wondering, poor weather in your part of the country will not be considered an excuse for any ballots that are cast late and there will be no recounts! Lastly, #3 pencils are strongly recommended as there have been mysterious problems reported with #4's.

I'd say that the 1955 double die has more to do with bringing in new collectors than a mercury. Though I still like my nice collection of circ mercs.

I was brought in my mercs as a young collector. A 1921 to be exact. Die varieties such as the
1955 DDO came later.

I think a die varitity is more intresting than how good a strike a certain coin has.

55 DDO cent (but then you must follow it up with the 72 DDO and 83 DDR etc.) just to even up the score but will not be around Fri.

But both would be nice. I like both.

Merc! Mercs! Mercs! Mercs Mercs! There. That's five votes for mercs.

I am particularly interested in what you have to say about full bands because It's my feeling that PCGS and NGC look at them differently. I've tried to crossover some PCGS FB mercs to NGC only to have NGC tell me they don't meet their criteria for FB, even though the bands are still split!

Current unofficial vote totals are (12) for the 1955 double die Lincoln, (15) for the FB Mercury dimes and a few for both.

The polls close in 16 hours and 4 minutes - only one vote per board member, please.

PS - the discussion of FB Mercury dimes, if it is indeed the winner, will be on a beginner's basis.
