Jefferson gurus

What do you think of this 1945 nickel with D mint mark? Would you call this an RPM or some type of machine doubling?

Not quite sure what that notch is at the bottom of the 'D' though.

  • It appears to be an RPM. RPMs are very common for this year. In the Jefferson RPM book by Wiles there are 49 different RPMs for 1945D alone.

It is hard to tell from your photo, but it appears this is RPM - 002.

    Is that RPM worth much?

The photo was taken at 60x. I can try the other setting at 200x to see if I can make this image a bit better.

    hey, hey

not to rain on your parade, but in this thread a day or two ago we were discussing what magnification was generally accepted as needed to see something of this type and have it be collectible. most seemed to agree on 7X-16X. more than that and it's got a limited appeal/market. ideally, something would be viewable with the naked eye such as a 1955 DDO lincoln. i hope the thread helps.
