Wayne, I agree with Adam, you can probably get rid of the cleaned look through use (pocket), but then in my humble opinion the coin doesn't get better, only loses the cleaned look, but less appealing. In either event the coin's value is reduced. I have coins that ANACS net graded at EF with Uncirculated details. What a shame, a coin goes from MS to net EF. If you find out a way to get back to original, alot of us would be much richer.
There is nothing NCS or anyone else can do about a harshly cleaned coin. As has been stated, if the coin is naturally worn down via use as a pocket piece, then the affect of the cleaning will be removed, but it's not worth it. Send it to ANACS for net grading.

The following picture is that of a very very cleaned Coin. How do i know this. Well i found it in the bath tub after my Grandson was done taking a bath with Scooby Doo bubble bath. When i asked him why his coin was in the tub he said and i quote "poppy it was all dirty so i cleaned it" This started his 2nd lesson about why rare coins should be left dirty. I will cheerish the moment forever.

Non-harshly cleaned coins, which have been dipped in a mild acid solution or have had foreign matter removed via acetone or MS70, may be submitted to PCGS without fear of a body-bag. In this case however, I think we're talking about a harshly cleaned coin.

just e-mailed ncs here is the reply We usually would not be able to help a coin that has been improperly cleaned short of removing residues. If a coin has been stripped of its original surfaces, we would not be able to bring them back.
