I got a nickel that came in a 1964 "sealed" proof set. It has a light gold toning. Would it be better to re-seal the envelope or leave it un-sealed to try to intensify the toning. I know it will take a few decades but the nickel is pretty nice and it would be cool to photograph it now and then in another 10 or so years to see the progression.

I've got one like that. I cut it out of a proof set. I'll see if I can get a pick posted of it.
As far as what to do to get it to finish out toning, I have no clue.

I have a few from some 1961 proof sets that are blueish/purple. I just left them in their original sealed proof sets to see what happens later.
I guess if you have a sealer like one of those foodsaver deals you can reseal it but it will take out the air that will tone the coin or you can somehow mend the plastic with a heated paperclip to keep that toning environment it was in before.
Just make sure you do not seal it in an area where it might be humid such as near your bathroom. You don't want to add any extra moisture in there.
