ngc proof 67
red brown
indian cent 1884
a super nice 67
with a solid cameo both sides
and wonderfully iridescent toning
with deep deep mirrors
no spots or stains and bullseye toned
the deep mirrors and iridescence and target toning is not seen too well in the scan

and then a fourth look......
It also might have a L on it.
them and wind up spending time talking to the dealers who specialize
in these cents. It never ceases to amaze me how copper coins like these
have survived so well. As usual a nice pic.

Then I would drool a bit.
Then I would find out what the asking price is.
Then I would look at my checkbook balance.
Then I would walk away, sobbing quietly to myself.
Nice photo!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
The natural toning that can be found on some Indian Head cents, especially proofs, can be IMO, the epitome of some of the most beautiful and most desired coins. I would take a second and third look. Get out the checkbook, consider a trade, or whatever if the toning were exceptional. Deep blues, violets and purples are especially desired.
The prices on these beauties has been sky rocketing lately, if you can pick up one cheap, do it and then sell it to me at 10% over what you paid.
Happy Holidays,
Brian.
