    It's in the mintmark, and is the same as the SBAs. If you've got a Red Book look them up for a good photo. The same types apply to all proof denominations of that year.

    Thanks. The Redbook doesn't even mention them (2002 page 174 ) for 1981, but they do for 1979.

    Yeah, they're inconsistent. The 79-S Type 1 and Type 2 mintmarks also apply to all denominations, by the way.
