I got this souvenir at the 1964 NY World's Fair at the Atomic Energy Commission exhibition. You put a dime in the plastic "slab" and inserted it into the machine. It irradiated it and came out for you to keep as a souvenir. BTW, it's a 1943 Mercury dime that I swear turned dark due to the irradiation. I think I have seen it glowing in the dark, too!

Have you been carrying that around in your pocket? Can you still have kids?

BTW: To all of you worried about ChiefBob's future progeny...The dimes are harmless.

That's what the government would have us believe.

Speaking of radiation, is anyone old enough to remember Buster Brown shoe stores? They had a neat machine where you slid your feet into the bottom of it, pressed a button, and viewed your skeletal feet! It's a good thing we didn't have to buy "dress" shoes very often, or my feet would be more webbed than they are now.

I had a Daisy air rifle when I was a kid and still have both my eyes. I keep waiting for my boy to ask for one now. I want to throw a "No! You'll shoot your eye out!" at him.
