Who has had dealings with Larry Whitlow?Updated

Good ,bad?
Added the following,

I just got a call from Larry. He is a very pleasant man to talk with.
I was inquiring about a commemerative Connecticut half dollar, graded PCGS MS-64.It was a tad out of my price range so I asked if he would accept half now and half next month + shipping and he agreed.I'm very happy because I've wanted one of these for a long time.

  • I bought a coin, returned it. A few weeks later I saw another coin they had, I called to see if it was still available, Mike told me I would just send it back. Same thing happened a little while later. I am not sure if he was mad because I sent the first one back, or if he was really being honest. But I have never had any dealing s since.

Have had several dealings. Very friendly, attentive, good quality coins and fair prices. Can't speak to koinkrazy's experience, but mine have always been excellect. Have considered Whitlow to be one of the dealers you can count on.

I did one deal with these folks. It may be the best coin I own. When we talked on the phone he gave me an honest opinion and I still fall in love with collecting every time I look at it.

I ditto Dpoole's and everyone else's comments. I have returned only 1 coin to him and that coin my wife basically forced out of him by telling him she needed a coin for my birthday...in 3 days. Otherwise all the coins have been very nice. Even that coin was nice, but it just wasn't quite what we wanted.

There have been times when I called to inquire about a coin and Mike has told me that I don't want that particular coin. So, koinkrazy, I don't think Mike is mad at you. I simply think he is honest.

There have been other times when I called to gave Mike a selection of coins and asked him to pick one for me. In all these instance, I have very much liked the coin he selected. And the coin is not always the most expensive, which is another good indicator of Mike's trustworthy nature.

Excellent experiences. Obviously because of his formidable mercury dime selections.

I've bought a number of coins from Mike. Returns are few due to his accurate descriptions and images. Oh, those images!!!

They can be pricey, but quality usually is. Returns haven't been an issue as he sends me coins on approval.

You have nothing to fear in doing buisness with them except that you might buy more than you expected.

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
  • Outstanding Service. Mike made room in his schedule to meet with me, picked me up from my hotel on a very fast trip to Chicago, then took me to his shop to look at his inventory where he spent a couple of hours showing me his photography setup and discussed each others likes and dislikes. This was our first meeting. They don't know me from Adam (well Adam was probably a little shorter), and went to all this trouble for me. I have to say they had some really nice WLHs and some amazing toned pieces when I was there.

    Thanks again Mike and Larry

    smprfi:

Like you, I LOVE the Connecticut design. I like both the tree and the eagle. If you purchased the coin on Whitlow's site described as "Frosty white with loads of blast, nice luster and excellent overall eye-appeal", I think you got a beautiful coin.

  • Mark someone beat me to that one. He had another one that he hadn't listed yet that he says is even better looking than that one.
He says it has a touch of light toning "x shaped" and also less bag mark on this coin.
I've surfed his site and like his taste and description of coins.Plus the input of members here makes me comfortable accepting the coin sight unseen.
