Critical E-mails on 1957 PSA 8

Has anyone else been getting critical E-mails from a PSA Set Registry member, scolding them for their bidding practices? This character claims I'm "over-bidding' on certain 1957 PSA 8 commons and I should cease and desist.image

  • Frank,

    Blow him off!!!

Any card is worth what you are willing to pay.I might pay way over smr if I have not been able to locate a certain card or maybe it has personal significance for me. I wouldn't let anyone else's views alter my wants.

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

FRANK - I'm sure eBay frowns upon bidders telling other bidders to ease off on the bidding. I would foward a copy to eBay's Safe Harbour, and get this guy tossed off of eBay, then he could save lots of money by not being able to bid....jay
  • Mantlefan - shame on you for bidding so aggressively on cards you want. Some people have such nerve. Before you know it we'll have another card boom, and you know what trouble that can cause the hobby.
  • I recently paid 5 times SMR for a card I needed for my set. This guy should have his head examined.

  • I regularly bid over SMR on vintage commons. So let me make my request: until I complete my 1970 Topps set, could all of you bidders out there cease and desist from bidding over 80% of SMR? image

I know it's frustrating to consistently get outbid by the same 1 or 2 bidders, but seriously, it really takes some nerve for someone to email a high bidder with this kind of request.

    JEB.
  • Probably the d-bag from Ohio. Do not ignore the emails. Report them to Ebay. He is a chronic offender and has been warned of this before. The only problem is that too many people do ignore them and don't report the emails to Ebay. The emails range from telling people they are idiots for bidding so high, to planting seeds of doubt regarding the authenticity or quality of a seller's cards, or to making unwarranted comments regarding the bid activity in an auction. This is done soley to scare you away from bidding on auctions so that he has less competition when bidding. This falls under auction interference and Spam violations of Ebay. The saddest thing is that he is also a seller on Ebay who has enjoyed many many times people "paying too much money" for cards that he was selling. But their bidding practices are okay then.

    Mark,

I can't tell you his name, but he's fifth on the All-Time Finest list of 1957 Topps Baseball [third on the Current Finest list]. Of course he doesn't bother me and of course I sent his 3 emails to EBAY. I just want to know if anybody else is getting these weird emails!image

    Jeb,

I didn't win any of the auctions he wrote about. Jerry [oops] just felt my bids were needlessly raising the final selling price!

  • Frank - Thanks for the info. I've made my notes.

If I had the cash, I'd snipe him just to piss him off.

He sure has some brass ones doing what he does!

Yep! It looks like JERRY C. has been busted image ...jay
  • You know... in my 3+ years on eBay, I have run into some really creepy people... One of my favorite things to do is request their home address and telephone number through eBay's contact info function and call them. Watch a few episode of the Sopranos or the Godfather... gargle with some tabasco sauce then dial them up.
This usually stops their games... :-)
  • Don't feel bad. I had my life threatened a couple of years ago by a guy who lost out on several T205s to me. I reported it to ebay and guess what- they did noooooothing!
  • Frank - I'd love to see a copy of this guy's email to you. PM me if you don't mind sharing.

    Thanks.

  • Mantlefan,

You are the newest member of the idiot bidders of ebay. Welcome!

J.C. has been doing this for years, so I wouldn't bother reporting him to ebay. He's been booted off ebay in the past...

I have the last say when I win a card from him with a SMR of $125.00 for $80.00. That's when he becomes the idiot seller...

    Mark,

Have good laugh reading that email.

    John,

As you have, I've won auctions from this guy. He's a decent seller. Why does he have to annoy one of his own customers?

  • moto - That's unusual. Usually the new shill president jones doesn't allow his cards to sell that low.

Waittil: You are right there. JC is psa1947 and elliot31. 90% of jones bids are on his cards.

  • Frank,

The more people he annoys the less business he receives from us. I only bid on his auctions on the low end. I try my best to avoid him and always will.

    Waitilltheytrytosell,
He must have been busy with the other auctions and missed the one I won.

I've re-thought the report to ebay thing.

Buck....our resident statistition has along with waittilltheytrytosell changed my mind. With another shiller user name he has to go...

The last time he was tossed (a few years ago) it was for the same thing. Ebay has this on record!

I have spoken with JC several times and he is definitely a character. He not shy about sharing his opinions. In my dealings with him, he's been great.
