Where to buy bulk bullion

If someone wanted to buy bulk bullion in coin form (i.e. Gold Eagles) where is the best place.

Does anyone know who the 7 dealers that deal directly with the mint? If I wanted to buy unopened mint tubes of silver and gold bullion coins - who would I talk to?

Thanks for any help.

  • I found this at the US Mint website

Due to their fluctuating price, the Mint does not sell these investment coins directly to the public. Instead, you can buy American Eagles at coin shops, banks, financial institutions, brokerage firms and other retail locations that make a two-way market in the coins. To find a competitively priced dealer, call the Mint’s toll-free dealer referral line at 1-800-USA-GOLD.

Let me know if that helps.

  • AJPM (already mentioned) was the best price I found a couple years back for undated Silver Eagles in bulk. Some of them weren't too pretty, but if you're just in it for the metal you might check that out. My guess is you will have to pay a premium for Gold Eagles anywhere right now due to heightened interest in gold.

By the way, if you're just looking to speculate on gold prices, I believe buying/selling futures contracts would be a far more efficient and profitable (assuming you guess right image) way to go about it.
  • We typically buy our silver eagles yearly from some guy in Illinois...I'll post up the company name as soon as it comes to me. They always have the best prices on bulk silver eagles, as we shop around yearly. There's also The Gold Center in Illinois at 217-793-8000, who advertises quite a bit and claims to be a distributor.

  • Yes, The Gold Center in Springfield is a US Mint authorized distributor. They sell a huge amount of silver eagles in bulk
to dealers and bullion investors and to general public in smaller amounts. I just bought my annual roll last week.
