Cracking for Albums

I can't seem to find a 1884 in VF EF or better not in a Slab. I want it for my Dansco album. IS it a bad idea to crack out of a GSA holder or a lesser Slabbing services Slab?

I've been putting together a raw, silver, white mint state Washington quarter set for about eight years now and still have not finished with it. At first I did not want to crack coins out of slabs to put in my Capital Plastics holder but have recently relented and have taken to cracking some coins out to fill spots. Sometime, you just can't find a raw coin that you want in your set but you can find one in a slab. I say go for it! By the way, don't limit the slabs you are willing to crack, crack any service's slabs if it helps you and your set. Good luck.

Bust 'em out! That's what I do for my son's Dansco "type" album! I paste the little inserts to a piece of cardboard and keep in the back of the book.

    An 84 what?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I have cracked several coins out of ANACS holders to put them in my Dansco albums. However, these are not United States coins. The albums in question are for my Irish coin collection. A few of the nicer pieces came up for sale in slabs, so I bought them. I kept the inserts, and plan to do something like what goose3 mentioned.

    1884 what?

I have cracked out a small number of coins, from both NGC and PCGS slabs, for my raw Morgan set.

After the second or third time, it gets easier. It gives you the thrill of flirting with the near occasion of sin.

I think my Philippines type set had only about 1/3 of the coins raw and the rest in slabs. If I can get the time some weekend I'd like to get cracking so I can put all the coins together in an Air Tite case.
