Jeff Kicking Butt on Ebay

Jeff,

Really nice set. I wish I had money left after all of the Xmas gifts. Best of luck.

    Good Luck Jeff!

  • Thanks Guys ... If the bid is legitimate I will do very well on this set...
Making some good money and I had a lot of fun building it. ( A nice side bonus is that the items in my EBAY store have gotten more views in the last 3 days than they normally do in a month.) I had no intention of selling but I got 2 unsolicited offers for the set when I put a link into my 36 Goudey Set to sell the doubles from that set.
It is going to be tough to part with these cards but... I have already acquired another 20 raw in EX -EXMT condition and 4 PSA 6 cards to begin building again.
Knowing I could pick up a lot of the cards again and be back to 25% made it a lot easier to blow $6 on a listing and see what the set was worth.... This will give me huge cash flow in a VERY STRONG BUYERS MARKET RIGHT NOW.

I am keeping my fingers crossed it goes even higher....

  • Jeff, what's the SMR on the cards that you are selling?
  • The SMR I came up on this group of cards is 7435. Which includeas the SGC70 Dean . However the Deshong #96 always goes above SMR in a 5 or 6 ... there is one up for sale on EBAY now at $316 vs SMR of $285 and with about 10 hours to go. The Gehrigs in this set seem to always go 10-15% higher than SMR at least in the PSA 4-6 range..... Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

It may go over $8000.00, but in the future, I would highly recommend trying Mile High (Brian Drent). He takes very low comission and gets top dollar. I had a 48 Bowman set which I gacve to him in his last auction and I made 40% profit on it. It is a crap shoot, but on dealer auctions, it is still a seller's market on complete or almost completly graded sets. I am starting to build another one myself to submit again. I couldn't make 40% on my money if I had a gun these days. image

  • Mike,

I am really not sold on using an auction house... no matter who it is (no disrespect to any of the dealers out there.). But for me to net the same profit from the set figuring a 5% commmision and then a 15% buyers fee it would need to at around $9600. I realize there are some collectors that do not use EBay but I just can not see the bid getting that high . Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

I thought the same thing on my 48 Bowmans and I was very surprised. I even had a Marino card go to $1100.00. This guy is pretty good because he doesn't have them 5 times a year like everyone else. The best of luck to you regardless. Happy Holidays.
