    There was a so-called person that claim he could tone coins with rotten eggs and matches and make thousands of dollars. I think this auction is by this person cause that half looks pretty rotten!

    Yikes! Looks like the permanent marker people got a hold of that coin. I'm putting that seller on my never buy from list.

    In the second sentence the seller says it's not real.

    My first thought were that this coin was toned using an empty bottle of jewel luster (dip) and a coin envelope. That sort of toning will usually produce a purple-blue coloration, most of the time mottled, but at times smooth. The look of the coin depends on the length of time in the jar, eventually the coin would turn very dark, as is typical for silver tarnish. However, the obverse of this coin has an arc of color, and I don't know how this occurred, but the coin is definitely suspect. Anyone want to win the auction and sniff the coin to see if it smells like dip solution???image
