NJ Colonial Copper - Opinions

Anyone here know these coins? I'm originally from NJ and I thought I'd get myself a XMas gift. I really liked the one Anaconda had so I found this one on Ebay. No where near Adrian's coin, but I kinda like it. It'd be by far the oldest coin in my collection.

You really have to appreciate a coin like this. The workmanship, the hand tooling and pressing. I think it's very impressive and then to survive more then 200 years in this condition.

Sorry can't get the link to work, someone help me out, please.

Opinions on grade, originality ect.

Any opinions on this dealer?

Thanks for the help,

Michael

  • That is a VERY nice New Jersey! Unfortunately I can't find the most recent issue of Penny-Wise because I am fairly sure they just covered the condition census of that variety in this issue. I would agree with the grading, it is a VF probably a 20 coin but it would have claims to a higher grade if it wasn't for the small pitted areas above the P and behind the neck. It is currently at $82.00 and that is too cheap for this coin. I don't collect these but I will look in on this lot when it gets closer to closing.
  • For a hundred bucks, you can't go wrong, in my humble, uneducated, opinion.

So, you're from New Jersey. "Hey guys, let's get a rope!"

Actually, I was born in New Jersey, in Morris County, the county, I believe, where my PCGS MS62 New Jersey copper was minted.

Did you know, that a study shows that 3 out of 4 people buy a Christmas present for themselves before they buy one for anyone else?

I'm from Middlesex County and I believe some of these were also minted in Rahway and Elizabethtowne. Right next to were I was born and raised.

Thanks to Anaconda and his stellar example I've been looking @ these for awhile and thought this was a nice example to buy. You guys see any problems with getting this coin into a slab @ PCGS or should it go to NCS for conservation first and then to NGC.

Sure beats a NJ state quarter that's probably more expensive then this little gem image

And by the way, all my XMas shopping is finished image

    Thanks

Yes, fine specimins such as the one you are looking at are truely rare coins. I just snagged one myself. I really like Anaconda's pine tree shilling but I need to reload with more "buck"shot before I could think about buying one this nice.
