What do you do if you get ripped off? Received refund today.

ldhairldhair Posts: 7,232 ✭✭✭✭✭

Received refund today. Thank you Kelgory.

Let's say I make a purchase on a coin web site and use Paypal. I use a bank account and not a credit card to pay. Like an idiot I wait more than 30 days to file a claim. They have my money and never ship my order. They can't be reached by phone or email for 20 days but their web site is still up and running..

Is it time to give up?

I'd say you are SOL. I would keep trying though. Perhaps you could divulge the Web site address so some of us can give them a piece of our mind on your behalf.

Hmm. I am in the same boat, at this very moment. On this item.

I'm 3 days shy of a month with that one. The guy answered my initial emails, including one just after I paid, but no reply to the last two. I paid with an e-check from my bank account, because I had nothing in my PayPal account, and I had to cancel my credit card just before that, since it was stolen in a restaurant. Though I usually use e-checks, I would have used the card on that item, had it been possible, because I had my doubts about that seller from the start. (Thought it was worth a gamble, though- I'm crossin' my fingers.)

    I'm almost sure I'm SOL.
I want to give them one more day to contact me. After that I plan to spell it out.

From where I'm at I want to say, claim it now if you can. I'm not really up on e-check rules but I would think you can cancel your claim if you get your purchase.

I don't understand what happened to them.
They are/were a pretty big supplier.

I was going to order more flips from kelgory next week now I don't think so.

Sorry to hear about your trouble I hope you are not out much image

I feel your pain. I have been waiting for a 1964 AH Kennedy for about a month. I sent four e-mails, and called the guy, and he told me he would ship it... Here I sit still waiting. My guess--I got ripped off!

The being ignored part is what really eats at me.
I want to give it a day before I say much more.

If you used your credit card thru Paypal you can have them do a chargeback, but PayPal will cancel your account if you do, so make sure it is empty if you do.

  • Link to eBay - Get eBayers phone and address

If it was an eBay item, you can call them, get their real name and address. You will need an item number to use this option. Good luck.

Well I guess it’s time to give it up. I thought my thread here might just get their attention and a credit from paypal. Don’t think it’s going to happen.

There's an answering machine on the toll-free number, then? I'll have to try it later on.

Bummer. Hopefully you haven't been gypped. I see there is in ANA member number on the web page; you should report it to the ANA. (Not that they will do anything about it, but maybe it'll be some satisfaction).

Your seller says <<<arrangements will be made after the auction is over or via email before auction close>>
Well that's kind of vague. Is he not meeting the "arrangements" he specified?
It might be best to go ahead and do the PayPal complaint before the 30 days is over just in case.
If he's legit then it shouldn't be a problem.
Shipping is slow this time of year.

I learned something kind of cool today. Even if 30 days have passed you can still file a complaint with Paypal. You won't get squat but it might help others from getting ripped.
