Very nice AH Dave. Put up a pic of the reverse so everyone can see the broken rays. image

Very nice piece! Is that the NGC 67CAM? If it's a techical 67, you stole that coin.image

    Dave,

Look under "unum" at the rays intersecting the stars. They have gaps in them.

I would point out, though, that as a singular diagnostic, this wouldn't be 100% reliable, since the first reverse die was also used with the second obverse die. In other words, there are non-Accented Hair coins that have the same reverse characteristics as the AH.

Here is the reverse diagnostic, several stars leave gaps in the rays, hence the broken rays reverse. Thanks, and great coin.

You need to check carefully for hairlining. Even under 10X, they may not show up unless you have the coin angled correctly. They are very elusive little buggers!

If your scans are a good indication, I believe this coin would get the cameo designation at the present time.

    Russ,

You're right about under Unum, but it also affects the second and third rays from the right above Unum. You were right about a few of the non-AH's having the same rev die. Dr.Wiles says a small percentage. image
