  • Looks nice - are 71s tough in high grade?
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?
  • I checked the pop report today, there are only 13 "10's" for the WHOLE set.

  • I will be opening a new savings account today and I shall call it "The psa 10 1971 Topps Phillies team card Fund", and in about 50 years maybe I will have saved enough to pry this one away from you. image If that does'nt work I can always get a BVG 10 sheet cutimage Kidding aside Marc, that is a beautiful card,a small piece of art and one to never part with. Perhaps this is out of place, but let me speak for the group -

    WHAT DID IT SELL FOR?

Oh, and is it as legitimate a 10 as it appears to be?

Thanks for sharing the candid answers in advance!!!

    Uniship:

The card is definitely a legitimate 10. In fact -- I would say that it is better than the card appears in the scan (For example - the scan has a white dot in the lower left-hand corner of the card. That is from the scanner, not the card). The corners are super-sharp, and it is absolutely one of the finest 1971s I have ever seen.

The price it sold for is not truly relevant -- a unique card that had a corresponding price.

Now for a little self-promotion -- though I shall not disclose the price of the PSA 10 -- I have an SGC 96 and a PSA 9 version of this card, too. Both are 1/1 in their grade. I am willing to sell the SGC 96 for $150- and the PSA 9 for $400. E-mail me privately if interested.

Schmidty - my question was probably out of line and for that I apolgize. In my opinion, if you spent $1500 or less, you did well. More than that, well, you probably still did well. That card should be the cornerstone of any collection - it is simply fantastic and mind-boggling. How do your two 9's compare? Anyway, that is one Awesome card and thanks for sharing!!
  • THAT'S PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!
I collect the 1960 and 1961 Nu Card issues. I also enjoy the 1959 Fleer Three Stooges.

    Marc,
I just got back from the saftey deposit box and noticed a 1973 Topps card with Tiant and Carlton, I believe it was a save leader card. Anyway, it was a PSA 10. Any idea of what that is worth? I am thinking about selling it next week and wanted to know what to expect.

    Shane:

Who knows? I bought my Tiant/Carlton PSA 10 from ScP a few years back for something like $86. I know another collector friend who has at least one in his collection, too. I haven't seen (m)any of the 1973 Leaders in 10 surface in the past 2-3 years, and I have no clue as to present value. Obviously there are some Carlton collectors that would be interested in the card, with 1973 set collectors to boot. It is hard to say where such a card will finish up -- but I hope it goes very well for you. The least Ryan/Carlton PSA 10 leaders card sold for an astounding $1,248- or something like that about 2 years ago. MS
