I have been reading the message board for about two weeks now and I have been fascinated by the advise and expertise I have read. I now humbly join your forum with the expectation of receiving far more than I can contribute.
My area of interest is a rather narrow scope due to limited funding. I have been seriously reckless in the past with my credit cards and now try to maintain a more fiscally responsible collection of vintage cards.
Currently I have four small sets on the registery:
Rocky Colavito player set
1959 Dodgers set
1963 Dodgers set
1965 Dodgers set
In addition, I have always been a collector of Mickey Mantle and Sandy Koufax. I recently expanded my collecting to include Tommy Davis and Ernie Broglio.
In my prime I had a near mint 9 run of Eddie Mathews and Ernie Banks cards. To pay off debt, I sold all but a 54 Banks psa 8 and two 60 Mathews psa 9s.
I started collecting as a kid in 1960 and that is my favorite year. I have 5 unopened packs from 1960.
I have been in the hobby since the early 80s and have had several fantastic experiences and relationships with dealers and other collectors. In particular I would like to thank Andy Madec and Levi Bleam, and from the "old days" Rick Salvino.
I look forward to meeting more collectors that I can help or get help from. I know that this hobby is about having fun and meeting great people.
In addition, I have never been on a message board before so I appreciate any and all advice/criticism/instruction given regarding my posts.
Thanks for listening.

A well written first post. It states your collecting preferences perfectly and invites more responses from the great pool of knowledge and experience that exists here. I wish you the best in completing whatever sets you choose to tackle no matter how small (they are all grand accomplishments no matter the size).
I recently started collecting the 1960 set in PSA. Put those unopend packs up on ebay or just sell them to me
Here's a Koufax card I bet you don't have:
1969 Topps Koufax

Welcome Bill! Glad to have you aboard. You should find many collectors who can help you with your collecting goals.
Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
I will get the Koufax graded during the upcoming PSA grading special in January for vintage cards that don't exist.
As far as posting scans of the '60 packs - can you upload them to a website? Use any free service - I've used Village Photos recently very few problems. Just click the "http" button when you are replying to a post and paste the URL in.

Welcome to the boards !
You tapped into the "keg" of card knowledge here.
You're right about that credit card thing.....I applaud you for setting a game plan that works out evenly...... It takes time building any set no matter what the size...
You'll do great and Welcome once again !!!

Welcome to the boards. Generally, it's a great group of people with a huge amount of knowledge. I've always like the 1960 Cellos. I almost bought some of those about 10-12 years ago at a shop in San Gabriel or Rosemead. I've always regretted not buying them, but I really couldn't afford them at the time. Those are some great sets you're working on. Best of luck to you.

Always room for one more. Aside from the endless knowledge and info available here, you can normally find a good laugh or two when you need one. I didn't realize until I started reading these forums that many collectors also sideline as comedians. Then again, they could be comedians sidelining as collectors.
You know who you are.
Welcome aboard.
Rob...
Welcome to the board..... Great to have you you aboard..... Bummer you had to sell those sweet cards.... Jeff

Also, any positive comments on PRO graded cards. My experience sort of reminds me of Xmas. A lot of trimming but not for the tree.
CU turns its lonely eyes to you
What's the you say, Mrs Robinson
Vargha bucks have left and gone away?

PRO is the best alternative opinion for cards that have been rejected by all the top grading companies.
When you see a high dollar vintage card in a PRO holder, you can be 100% certain of what you are getting.
When you see a dealer selling PRO cards, you know that you've found a dealer with a definitive level of expertise.
PRO has been diligent in their efforts to eliminate the plethora of altered raw cards that used to litter shows.
Great take on Pro! You just hit a grandslam on that one! A tape measure job in fact!
