Okay. So this is not the right forum, but I figured everyone needs a break from coins every now and then.
I have made my decision to go back to college to get my Ph. D. I am getting tired of coming home after work all day and going to sleep. So, I figured school would keep me busy.
I will be attending F. S. U. and start in the summer term.
Wish me luck!!
Richard.

I wonder if LovedByGod7 ever got his doctorate.

So what are you going to get your ph.d in?
Best of luck! My wife says I can get my history PhD after I retire.

Oh Yeah, My son finally graduated from FSU, Only took him 7 years to get his 4 year. I think the only "A's" that he received was in "fun, sun, tans, ladies and fun"

Even though I am a professor at the University of Florida, I want you to know that FSU isn't a terrible school. Indeed, all UF and FSU students have one thing in common: They were all accepted to FSU. ()
In truth, FSU is a good school. Bulldog, you should be proud of your son because I am confident he got a quality education. And Rampage, be prepared to work as you never have before. I recall when I was a grad student, scared because I was unsure if I would make it or not. As it turned out, the years I was a grad student were the best of my life. Non-stop learning about topics in which I was interested and surrounded by people with similar interests.

Congrats and Go Noles
<< <i>And........Fluid Dynamics/Hydrology is going to keep you awake? Congrats and Go Noles >>
Can YOU go to sleep if you really need to go to the bathroom?
Congrats, Doc!
I was thinkingt about continuing on, but I think my wife wants me out of school and earning some money. As it is now, I use her money to buy coins.
By the way, where/what did you do for your Master's?
GeoMan---My BS and MS were both in Geology, too, from FIU (Florida International University). I worked for the USGS in Miami and moved here for a promotion, etc.
BullDog---I am not much of a partier, so that is a good thing, I think.
FatMan---So, it might put me to sleep at times, but for the most part, I should be able to stay awake. Allot of the degree program is what I currently do at work anyway.

<< <i>my concentration is in exploration geology. My thesis is on a potential Cu-Ni/PGE mine in northern MN. >>
interesting stuff. In another life I was very involved in the gold mining business in Canada. I might even remember some of it if got liquored up enough.
I graduated from FIU in 1974. Was on their first soccer team. Back then we were the Sunblazers, before becoming the Golden Panthers.

Congratulations and good luck on your new endeavor!
Are you going to try to maintain full time work during your studies? When I was studying for my Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering) I didn’t envy the guys that showed up in the lab after a full day of work. It’s a lot of work, but as long as you can pass the qualifying exam (about half fail) you will most likely be able to finish. There will be many ups and downs but quite a sense of accomplishment at the end!
If I may offer you one piece of advice: try to choose a dissertation advisor that actually graduates his students in a reasonable amount of time. Quite a few have students languish in servitude for the better part of (or more than) a decade.

Many moons ago (early 1980's) I lived in Gainesville and worked at the Campus Credit Union, the one directly across the street from Norman Hall. SW 5th Ave. I think? Is it still there?

Congratulations on your decision to go for your PHD. There have been some "empty" times in my life that were richly filled with additional schooling. Go for it, and best wishes!
