Pocketchange Finds

Any good change finds recently by anyone?
I got a 1973-D roosevelt ms63ish..
not valuable but strange how it's as satisfying as spending several hundred on a more "collectible" coin..

Comments

  • A 1969S Jefferson Nickel on Monday. PHOTOGRADES fine. Can't remember the last time I got an "S" mintmarked coin other than a cent.
  • 1972 S Proof Jefferson.

Yeah found a proof in circulation. Tried finding the slot for it in my coin album, wait theres no slot.

Opened the red book yep a proof.

  • I tend to see a lot of S-mints on the west coast. My most recent fun find was a nice AU/Unc 1959 nickel with really beautiful toning! I tried to take a pic, but the toning really didn;t show up, so I didn't bother.
  • i got a 68, 69, 70 s jeffersons in ms60 or better outta one workers change, and a 1982-no p dime outta another co workers change.

I'm dumping five complete rolls of 1960-P Unc Jeffersons and about 500 mixed Wheat cents into a CoinStar today.

  • I'll buy the wheaties from you!
  • I found a 1936 Mercury dime (VF to EF) in pocket change this week.

I just put a few hundred wheats back into circulation, maybe somebody doing a Whitman or something will find some.

  • Congradulations on the mercury dime, I am impressed.

Just the VG 1928-S Buffalo nickel I reported last week.
I went through 4 rolls of cents last night and found a 1940-P wheat.

  • DOh I need Wheaties.

But thats a good thing that people put some coins back into circ and help us lowley newbies with our little albums.

I just got my fourth 1970-D quarter struck on dime stock. These were made when
clad strip intended for dimes were inadvertantly made into quarter blanks instead.
They don't work in vending machines so they never have much wear. This is the
lowest grade one I've seen but pretty well-struck.

Also found some MS-65 IN Denver quarters. These aren't real valuable but they're
    OK for a quarter.

  • Me again. Got a 1959D Lincoln Cent today at lunch. Obverse grades Fine and maybe VF on the reverse. Pretty good shape for 43 years old.

I recently got about $120 in change from a buddy who was going to take it to one of those counting machines...he was so kind as to let me pick through it first, only replacing cash for cash.

I got 8 1964 kennedy's, 10 40% kennedy's, several unusually toned state quarters, about 20 wheaties...the best one being an xf 1935 P....no other silver in dime or quarters.
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

Why Coinstar? Why not just take them to the bank? I can't see paying the juice for coinstar when the bank counts them for free... Even though I get dirty looks from the tellers when I show up every other days with $500 in halves!!!image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Wife, bless her heart, got a 1944-S Winged Liberty Dime today in change at a store and proudly showed it too me. She probably wouldn't have noticed it normally but she's become more knowledgable lately about coins as we search for them in the woods (metal-detecting) and talk about the different coins from different eras.

  • About 2 months ago I got a beat up 1943 quarter in change - it isn't worth much, just neat that it was still circulating around.

  • It wasn't "pocketchange" but i did find a gold cert. in the regester at work today. The guy that paid with this also tried to pay for what he bought with $1000 bills but my boss wouldn't take them (didn't think the US ever made a $1000 bill)image
  • My most recent finds: a 1945 quarter and a 1934 quarter, both well circulated. I can't tell if the '34 is the light or heavy motto. It's not a DDO, darn it! image
  • I was going through a handful of penny's and found a 1935 Deutsches Reich Reichspfennig. It has a number one on one side and a bundled shaft or wheat on the other. I think it is the last year before the Nazi eagle started showing up on the back.
If you give up your rights, in order to maintain your freedom. You will most likely end up losing both!
  • Interesting Finds....
1966 Quarter that looked silver but it wasn't image
    Back to Back 1940 Wheaties
    1944 Wheatie
and a 1964 Penny that looked brand new... no spots, no dings, no dirt.

Nothing major but these caught my eye more than the $200 worth of change that is sitting on my desk image

Havn't found anything lately but have found proof coins in the past.
  • I never go inside the bank...but had to the other day. On a lark, I bought seven rolls of half dollars. In the seven rolls were four 40% silver half dollars. A '67, '65 and two '66's. Thought that was pretty good. I'll probably buy more.
    Go well.

This weeks search fix found a proof Jeff, 82's, mild cam rev, about pr45, with still sharp rims.
Need something designed and 3D printed?
  • My change search this month yielded only three silver-clad halves and a few wheaties. Oh well, I've had better luck in the past, and I will have better luck again.image
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
  • I my wife somehow ended up with a 2002 10 cent Euro in her change (which ended up as my change..hehe). Kind of a strange thing to get in NW Washington State.
