Do coins submitted for crossover usually get a lower grade..

than if you submit them raw?

Do you think the graders at pcgs would tend to drop a point or grade level to be on the safe side because they can't see the coin as well in a holder and can't see the edge?

    Placid:
This is a very common misconception. I know several graders at the major services, it boils down
to services wanting nice and attractive coins in their holders. Its a case by case thing. Don't assume
that you will get a lower grade. Trust your grading skills and submit.

I would never crack out a coin of value over 100 if it's slabbed, esp above MS63 grade because
Coin can get banged in transit and develop scratches
Coin can slide in the 2*2 back and forth (does the word rub rings a bell)
Coin can be bagged for a variety of reasons

Even if it doesn't cross you will still end up with a slabbed coin
