Where do your modern commemorative coins come from?

Where do your modern coins come from?

1) I buy them from the mint for $32
2) I submit them to PCGS for $10
3) I list them with no reserve on ebay, where a dealer buys it for $32
4) The dealer sells it to you for $59

I'm just glad for my small role in bringing these to the coin collecting public.

  • Let me know what you have in the way of 32$ coins and I will pay a premium (if I need them), thus, avoiding the middleman.

Some big dealers buy the from the mint for $32 (sometimes I believe they can get quantity discounts) then they submit them to PCGS at $6 a coin.
  • relayer,

You need to order from the Mint sooner. I used to do the very same, except that for the first several weeks, you can get $50 to $55 for that $42 COGS if you are one of the first to list your stuff.

I got $50 on some earlier ones this year, but just recently sold some West Point pairs to a couple board members at cost. I learned from the stock market that even is a good thing. But actually I've been very lucky. I've submitted about 10 of each and got one MS70 and one PR70DCAM.image

    I just sold a 2002-W SAE PR69DC for $21.45 - at least I have happy customers.

Except, I sold a 1986-S Statue of Liberty 50c PCGS PR69DCAM for $12.50 and the guy leaves feedback complaining "$4.50 for S/H and only 73c" on the envelope (Actually it's 83c in a 18c padded envelope). I blocked him from bidding, so no more cheap coins for him.

For the last 20 years they came from the mint. Last summer I sold them all. No more moderns for me.
