Shilling made easy

I noticed this morning on some of my eBay auctions that the 2 or 3 highest bids were all from the same person...coming in and placing additional proxy bids before the close of the auction. How often do you think this bidder's winning bid gets "bumped" by shill bids? Is this isolated or has anyone else noticed bidders doing this? I would be scared to place bids like that myself...way too easy to have your bid run up on you.

Sniping's the best way to avoid shill bids. This morning I overslept and forgot to snipe, but I ended up finding the same medal elsewhere for substantially less money. I'm amazed at some of the bidding wars people (especially newbies) get into if they really want something. Four times retail is a bit much in my book!

these shiller are pretty stupid. they get greedy than over bid and are stuck with the coin. I once bid what I would pay for a coin on a 9 day auction on the first day and ever day another bidder the same guy would come and make a bid before the 8th day he out bid me and than retraced his bid and than bid just one cent less than me. I also retracked my bid stating I feel I was being shilled. thats the only time I real got even with one.
