Most of the stuff he has sold in the past was not numismatic, and he probably was able to get by with a digital camera. If he continues to sell coins, he'll soon realize that even if they are slabbed, they won't bring the best price without a better image, and he'll probably get a scanner.

Methinks even if he had shown the top of the slab, the text would have been virtually unreadable based on the quality of the pic.
