WingedL--You see the lead article in this week's Coin World?
Says first of all that production is over for the2002s, at 5.6 million coins. Germane to your question, though, is commentary amng those who've gone through some bags of them, and have found BIG differences between the Philadelphia Mint issues and the Dinver Mint issues.
They quote John Carter, who was commenting on how many more die cracks he has found among the Philly coins. They quote Robert Kohler as saying, based on his perusal of the 2002 Kennedys, that maybe 80 percent of the Denver production would grade MS63 or better, whereas only 50 percent of the Philly coins would grade MS63 or better.
I guess the lesson here is to keep your eyes peeled for good quality 2002-Ps!
I would assume that they would surely be more vulnerable to addittional bag marks in transit, thus resulting in lower quality, but I can't say that the rolled coins are any better. I have yet to examine mine.
I think the 200 count bags are just that .Bags of loose coins.I could be wrong but I think the only govt. rapped rolls are the Sacs and SQs.I could be wrong. I noticed on both my `02 P & D mint sets the Eagles beak is scuffed on the Half dollar.Anyone else getting these too?
Just got in a bag yesterday. They are loose in the bag with plenty of room in the box to rattle around. Shipping was super fast!! Haven't had time to go through them yet to check quality.

The reverse of most half dollars in mint sets are scuffed as you describe dating all the way back to 1984. I assume its the machinery that places the coins in the plastic. Anyone else have an idea as to how this happens?

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
