Anyone signing up for this? I spoke to the Krause folks at the Dearborn show over Thanksgiving weekend and they said it should be up right after the first of the year.
I don't see the benefit, at least for me. I get my copy each Thursday at about noon. I called them. The subscription for the online version is the same price as the printed. You would think the online version would be cheaper.
I subscribe to the print edition, and I don't think I'd pay anything extra for an online version. And they only carry 12 weeks of back issues online, that doesn't seem like very many.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

What would the Krause people know, they don't publish Coin World.
Actually I will probably sign up for it. I like the fact that I should be able to clip and file articles right from the online version and tuck them away in files right from the computer. And once they get all of the back issues digitally archived it would be worth it to me to pay for the archive access to do some research. Eventually I may drop the paper version altogether and start archiving them myself on CD-ROMS. Indexing would be a problem though.
I would do it if it were less expensive than the paper form. No postage and no paper, why the same price. Even the mint gave a break on online orders, for a while anyway. Tried the sample and found it to be a little slow and cumbersome but maybe that's just me. Will stick with the old way for now.
I spend most of my time on a computer, so I probably will. I let my sub expire since it was usually a few weeks before I could find time to read the paper version and then had a lot of catching up to do. It will be nice to be able to have an electronic archive as well, since I live in an electronic world. They charge the same amount, because many of the print readers will complain if they charged less.
Hmmm. I think I will sign up for the online version as well. Like Mike said, when the older issues are all available, it will be a tremendous reference. mdwoods
Just to clarify things: Coin World is published by Amos Hobby Publishing, in Sidney, OH. We are not affiliated with Krause Publications of Iola, WI. We hope to have the online version of Coin World up and running in a few weeks.
I think I'll stick with the print version. Kind of difficult to take the computer and all those wires and cable modem connections into the toilet with me. Paper is just much more convenient.
I subscribed to Coin World and NN for several years. After comparing the 2, I opted to go only with coin world. Has anything changed with the new owners of CW?? Is NN better now.
I'm going with the online version. My paper shows up late and torn (west coast). With the online version, at least I'll know what was on the front cover.....
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.
Coin World does not have new owners. The Amos family, descendants of founder J. Oliver Amos, continues to own Coin World, Linn's, Scott Publications, Cars & Parts and Cars & Parts Corvette. The family did sell its stable of daily and weekly local newspapers several years ago, but remains fiercely devoted to the hobby publications. Krause Publications was sold earlier this year, not Amos Hobby Publishing.
There is something to be said for the paper version, but I never want to throw them away because I may want to refer back to something. I have Coin Worlds up to five years old laying around getting in the way. Two hundred and fifty Coin Worlds take up a lot of room! I would have even older ones but they all got burned up in the fire.

umm, sort of a "no brainer". I was suprised to see that you have to pay for the paper that isn't there too.
