MONDO fun at the show today! Wild rainbow neons, lots of pics to share and even some Frankies!

Went to the little show here in Kent today and had a blast doing some cherry picking. Picked up three Accented Hair proof sets (love it when a dealer tells me he's already picked out the cameos and nice coins and I'm wasting my time looking) at $9.50 each. Picked up a couple sets with cameo Frankies - a 1962 and a 1963. Grabbed a Hard Times token and even an NGC slabbed rainbow Morgan.

Now, have a gander at the coins from one of the Accented Hair sets.image

Are those wild, or what!!??

Here's a couple nice blue Jeffersons I picked up:

Here's the Morgan. Got this one for $50:

And, for Lucy, a 1963 Frankie:

The 1962 that I picked up may be even better, but it's going to need a dip as it's covered with haze.

Great day today!image

Nice batch o' coins there, Russ. Seems you did pretty good for a little show.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Lucy,

Not to worry. As soon as I have a nice one for my modern proof type set, I won't buy any more.

  • As good as the photos are... it really doesn't do them quite the justice they deserve. The quarter is ESPECIALLY wild! The color goes to an irridescent cobalt blue. Absolutely incredible. They weren't really even noticeable until he "carved" them out of the cellophane.

    Lucy,

No, but we had a lot of fun messing with dealers.image That Morgan is a particulary interesting story. Sometimes it pays to act like a dummy.image

Okay, here's the '62 Frankie that was hazed over:

    image

Came out quite nicely after a bath. Unfortunately, it has a rust spot on his cheek that isn't dippable without hurting the surface.

Here's one of the other Accented Hairs that also needed some TLC:

    image

It's right on the cusp of cameo and could go either way.

The third Accented Hair is a disaster that not even NCS could save.

  • Very nice. I like the toned proof set and the cameo accent hair Kennedy! That sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday.

Normally, I wouldn't have even looked at them but, today I did! I was really, really looking for an 1869 Two Cent piece, and since these are generally ordered by denomination, I also ended up scanning through a lot of IHCs along the way. I didn't see anything but common circulated today. But, I didn't look that hard.
