Gold!

I just purchased my first gold coin, a 1915 $10 indian in PCGS AU-58. I feel weird i feel happy yet sad, happy cause i got a gold coin and sad cause it was 4 times more expensive than any other coin i ever bought!

It's a wonderful design and a beautiful U.S. coin. Hey, if the price of gold keeps moving you can look at it as a great investment image.

Take another perspective. Consider the intrinsic value of the gold and non-gold coin and see how many multiples of the metal intrinsic value you are paying for the coin. As an example the US Mint sells a 2002 1 oz proof silver eagle for $24 (with silver at $4.70/oz that is @ 5 times the coin's intrinsic value) and a 2002 1 oz proof gold eagle for $570 (with gold at $330/oz that is @ 2 times the coin's intrinsic value). Makes the gold eagle a bargain although it costs @ 20 times the silver eagle. Just another perspective to rationalize the cost difference. image

Yep, now you are on the right track! Gold is where it's at maaaaan. None of this lame copper, nickel and silver crap. lol

Also, you were smart to buy slabbed. Gold CAN turn around and bite you in the butt pretty easily.

  • Kid,

Congrats, You said the other day in the chat room, that you was getting the itch...LOL

With all that you have going on. Hope you get that itch under control. Maybe you had better take a dip in some acetone or something.

Great buy, hang onto your first coin in a series always. Gives you a point of perspective.

KK - PCGS MS63. It's solid for the grade and may look 64 except there is a contact mark hidden in the headress feathers. Here is the reverse:

  • KK,

I am so proud of you, aspiring to a wonderful coin! I couldn't download your pic from home, but I've never met an indian eagle I didn't like, so I am sure yours is great! I hope I am not an indication, but I also bought my first gold coin when I was in high school, also an eagle, but a lib, and look at the trouble it's gotten me into! image

beautiful coin, KK. Your parents took it away to wrap it! Now you get the anticipation twice. Once before you got it and now while you wait!
