PCGS is looking good these days.

I sent in a blotch-toned 1918-S Red Lincoln in an OLD PCGS holder about five weeks ago, for a guarantee review. Got a call from Sandy at PCGS a couple of days ago, who quoted a very reasonable price for it, backing up their guarantee. No hastles, and very pleasant. Offered me the choice of $100 less and the coin back graded MS63, or the full amount (I chose the latter; the coin was UGLY). I was impressed.
Other incidental contacts seem smoother, too. And the grading, while no "gimmes," have not included the unexpectedly lower grades and the gratuitious body bags. Even crossed two out of three NGCs!
Things are looking up over there. I get the feeling they're working hard to be more responsive than they've been for the past few months.

Thanks for the post. It's important to post information so the consumers can know the good as well as the bad. I am pleased to hear that PCGS may be operating at a level more consistent with our fair and objective expectations.
When the whole RM departure and DH board activity started, many of us said that we need to take a wait-n-see approach before assessing PCGS. (DH had made a lot of positive-sounding comments early on.) I say that we should not relent with our expectations that PCGS maintain a high level of service. And, I do not want to make this a PCGS-specific notion. All services should receive fair but critical treatment from us.
I was recently greatly irked by NGC. I exchanged a few PM's with some of the senior folks over there to express my displeasure.
I think it is important always to provide feedback as opportunity arise. Good as well as bad. Good, so that they know to continue to do so, and bad so they know to stop doing it!
