With the show season over for 2002 I just wanted to thank all of you for your patronage at the shows and on E-Bay throughout the year. It's been a pleasure meeting everyone. I also very much appreciate all the nice comments regarding my business as well.
My early season 2003 show schedule includes Ft. Washington at the end of February, The Sun Times show in March and Pittsburgh in April. Now that I finally have time, I will be breaking down a ton of new material and my books, for the most part, will be completely re-done. Hopefully you'll continue to find cards for these unbelievable sets you guys are building. We'll be running graded cards on E-Bay throughout the winter as well.
Thanks too to those who expressed sympathy for my mom's recent death. I really appreciate it.
Have a great holidays and may all your submissions be 8's or better!

Do you ever do shows on the west coast? I could do some real damage at your table!
Great to hear from you, Joe. I met and did business with you for the first time at the Anaheim National, 2000. I've bought a couple things from you on eBay, but not nearly enough. If you re-populate those binders, I'm looking forward to running into you again.
Thanks for all your help with my habit.
I've debated for the past couple of years going out to the West Coast for a show. The only 2 shows I've ever done out there are the Labor Day San Francisco show about 4 years ago and the National in Anaheim. I did well at both shows but the expenses (flying, hotels etc) are very high. I did those shows by myself (which is crazy.....in fact I had my only major theft loss in Anaheim probably because I was by myself). Now that I have a helper for shows, those expenses double.
I had fully expected I'd be in Anaheim again next year (2004) for the National but that obviously is not going to happen. I know there are a lot of great collectors on the Coast and I do want to get back.
Let me ask you guys, if I did do a West Coast show, is the Labor Day in SF show still the one to do or is there something better? I'd value your imput.
Joe

The best show for you to hit next year is the Washington Square mall show in Evansville IN. Here's why:
1. It's many times advertised as 60 tables but only about 20 are used so you could get a huge discount on a bulk package of tables.
2. Very little competition from other dealers (unless you carry game used).
3. Hotels are very cheap in Evansville or even better yet you can stay with me and my wife and I'll get a head start on looking through your inventory.
4. The traffic at Evansville shows is tremendous - I even saw 2 people at the same table one time.
If that isn't enough reasons to come to Evansville I'll think of some more.
Good Luck,
Wayne
Wayne thanks for that hot lead! My fear is that with the Aces playing in town both the people that would have shown up at my table would be at the game. Plus, if the show is in summer, I hear it gets mighty hot by the banks of the Ohio.

Do you have any mint series 1 & 2 1972 Topps Football cards? I heard people talk about you before but I don't think I have had a chance to view your collection.
Carlos
PS. NO "The lake is on fire" jokes!!!
Unfortunately I no longer carry football cards. Up until this year I did but sales were slow for the past couple of years and I found I could eliminate a table a show by dropping them. The savings over the course of a year add up. Thanks for asking though and I hope you have good luck in finding them. It's funny but when I did have 72 football, the high numbers were always really nice and the first and second series cards were much harder to find in that condition. I find that to be true for 66 baseball as well.

Music City Miracle "Homerun Throwback" greetings to you and the Bills!
Catching up with you and your cards over the past 6 months have been two of my best finds. Looking forward to seeing those updated books! For those of you who have not been to set-builders, its a great table to find nice commons and VERY good prices...though if you all could not go to his table until AFTER I've been there, I'd sure appreciate it
And yes, the S.F. show is the show to do on the west coast, followed (distantly) by the Hollywood park show.
Looking forward to seeing you early next year.

Homerun Forward Lateral, in the crease and wide right, three things Buffalo sports fans would rather not think about. Steve, you're forgiven (though your card prices at my table may have just increased with that unfortunate Tennessee Titans reference). I look forward to seeing you in 2003.

I've done the Tri-star shows on both Labor Day and Memorial Day. I would say the Labor Day show is the strongest. I've had mixed results with much of my sales being to other dealers. But I'm not a known show dealer, so I don't have a following built up. I do know Kyle Boetel fairly well and he has had some good shows there. In fact, he's usually pretty happy with the results.
I would say it's worth trying. I would recommend the Labor Day show if you're going to try one though. I'm not too familiar with the So Cal shows, so there may be someone from the LA area that can recommend other options. Let me know if you decide to come out this way so I can look for your table.
Thanks for joining us! You are without a doubt one of the hobby's best dealers.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at Atlantic City this summer.

Have a Merry Christmas!
