MrKelso: that pictures is absolutely....NO HELP! lol

In the $10 Indian series strike is not as big a deal as marks and luster are. I think even the "color" of the peice has more sway than strike but that's just my observation.

From the picture, this coin looks like it was struck in lead. Like Jom said, no help. image

  • Looks like a hard coin to take a picture of.

This pic is much better. I'd grade this no more than 62, judging from the scan. The coin has nice luster, but also lots of little marks everywhere!

  • It's so hard to differentiate from wear and strike on a scan, but it looks like a 62, albeit not a strong one. It does have very nice luster, but also appears to have a fingerprint over the date, not sure it it's the scan or holder though. Nice coin overall.
  • No way I would give that Indian a 62, based on the picture. AU something tops image

I agree with you Greg I purchased several in a Gold coin deal recently of all MS 62 $10 Liberty coins. I pulled this one out of the bunch as NGC had it at MS62 but i believe it is a lesser grade. This is one of those RARE times that you will see someone complain that a coin was graded to High.image I just posted it here to maybe help some one else out and to get opinions that will help us all learn. Still not a bad coin.

    Grade update,
My brother and a few of our Coin collecting crazy friends got together last night to smoke cuban cigars, drink wine, listen to Kenny G blow the horn and look at gold coins. we passed the slab around the table on this one several times. (istayed out of it) the best grade given to this coin at the table was AU55 and no one agreed with the NGC grade of MS62. The cigars and Wine were graded MS 70 image It was also noted that there is some doubling on the 1 and the TE in ten on the rev.

I had to see the reverse to tell if it's AU. There are some hairlines on your new picture there...looks like that pic was taken with a halogen or a strong incandecent.

There is little price difference between a 62 and a 58 so it probably isn't a big deal with this date. If this were a 13-S you might have a problem however. image
