A somewhat decent proposal for Vlady...

Not really a proposal by the Phils I guess, but an idea thrown out there by Sean McAdam from ESPN.

"Philadelphia Phillies send outfielder Pat Burrell, pitcher Brett Myers and outfielder Marlon Byrd to the Expos.

Burrell is still relatively affordable and gives the Expos a power-hitting outfielder with major league credentials. Myers could step into Montreal's already formidable rotation, and be especially valuable if Colon and or Vazquez has to be dealt off, too. Byrd is a multi-tool outfielder who could be a star.

The Phillies are in a spending mood, having already landed free agents Jim Thome and David Bell, while just missing out on Tom Glavine. They had, in fact, budgeted $35 million or so for Glavine. If they could direct some of that money, in addition to the anticipated revenue coming from the opening of their new ballpark in 2004, they could find room in the budget to retain Guerrero for the long-term."

Burrell's a 40 HR guy, won't ever have the steals that Vlad's racking up, but Byrd twice stole 30+ in his minor league career, and Myers is a stud from what I've heard, 1st overall pick a few years back. Burrell could play first and Byrd/Wilkerson/Cepicky could make up our outfield, or, we could swing Colon to the Yanks for Nick Johnson and company...Dunno why I posted this, just working things out in my mind image.

  • Vlad is being shopped, I wish the Jays could get him to keepy Vladdy on a Canadian team. I don't think any real combination is worth Vlad because he's the best player in baseball. If I was another teams GM I'd give whatever the Expos want for him. It may be a firesale with the Expos on the move so lets just wait and see where he ends up.

  • As long as he doesn't go to the Mets or Yankees.

Sweet Jesus that dude smells bad!
  • LMAO! You crack me up imageimageimage

This is no doubt made up by...you. The Phillies 2nd best power hitter Burrell, and top 2 prospects so basically the future of the team for Vladi, a RF who isn't better than Burrell, plus the Phillies already have a RF in Abreu, there are hundreds of reasons why this offer you made up sucks, just don't feel like naming them.

Also, I stopped reading after I read the part where you said to the Phillies for Burelll, Myers, and Byrd...

    Your stupid
  • Metros, i read the same article. he didn't make it up

p.s i stopped reading after you said Vlady isn't better than Burrell image
  • Vlad for Byrd/Myers/Burell would be great for the Expos.
  • Whoa, talk about overrating your players. Vladdy NOT better than Burrell???? When has Burrell ever hit anywhere near .300? Vlad had more steals in ONE game last year than Burrell has in his career. Give me a frigging break, there's not a team in the league who wouldn't take Vlad over Burrell, next to A-Rod, Vlad is the most complete player in the league, and I guarantee you ANY TEAM in the league would rather have Guerrero over Abreu, he can be moved to left easily.

  • It's stupid Canadian papers, they are just trying to stir up the news, it will never happen, and if it does (IN THE REAL MLB image) I will quit this board
  • ESPN ain't Canadian bud.
  • Jeeze Metros....Vladdy is a hell of a lot better than Burrell at this point..there is no way you can say Burrell is better than Vladdy....
