    That would be cool if it were a rpm but it the normal "shadow effect." It's caused by the metal structure of the planchet changing because the strike makes the planchet metal is flow upward into the date recesses of the die and outward into the collar at the same time.
    Stretch marks in other words.
    Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    Hmmm.

    I never thought of it that way, but that is quite descriptive. And you notice how the toning takes to the "stretch marks" about as well as pigmentation to actual stretch marks.
