  • Now that is a nice looking early copper! That would make one heck of a type coin. I wish I was in that league...

It's a beauty! Heck of a pedigree, too.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

There used to be the day I'd see this coin and mutter to myself, "I wonder why it's not in a PCGS holder?".

    I'm glad I don't do that anymore.

Emm.... if I chipped in $1000 on it, I could own it 7 days out of the year. That sounds like a lot better deal than that 16-D dime everyone was looking at.

It meets my definition of an expensive coin - the buyer's premium alone is more than I've spent on my entire collection. image

Money can't buy you love but it can sure buy a heck of a coin. Talk about surface preservation. Incredible!

Boy it sure would be cool to have your name on the provenance of that coin....seeing as how the ownership of that coin is known as far back as eighteen seventy something....and as that exact coin appears in the first photographic plate of any US coin.....

    Did you just buy it?

What did it sell for? The last internet bid was $75,000.

I know it was your bid.

I think only the internet bidding is over.
