Observations on PCGS PR69DC coins Agree/Disagree

I am glad to see some 70s being given. I have a few 69s that I think should have been 70s. I have also seen alot of 69s that I wondered for the life of me how they got that high a grade. My opinion is that since basically 69 was going to be the highest grade that so many were graded that way to keep collectors interested and to have an almost limitless source of revenue. I think quite a few overgraded coins made it into slabs just for the sake of supply and demand. As a newbie I realize my reasoning is made without extensive knowledge. But I just wondered if I was way off track or was there some merit to my observations?

Ditto. I returned so many for hazing and spotting that now I always eMail the seller before I even bid, and specifically ask about those two problems. It's particularly bad in commemorative halves.

  • It's not just 69s either...I had a PCGS PR70DCAM '79 (ty 2) lincoln cent
that was COVERED with really nasty uneven haze and clouding.

I can't believe it looked like that when it was slabbed...

Then I sold it for (triple!) my money...right before PCGS started making
    70's again
